More sportiness with the Golf Mk 8 GTI

With the success of the VW Golf world car, VW followed up with its sporty variant. In 1975, the manufacturer presented the first VW Golf GTI at the IAA in Frankfurt and was very well received by motor sports fans. With the launch of the Golf Mk 8 GTI in 2020, the enthusiasm continues and creates a new sporty Golf Mk 8. Its technical specifications offer quite a bit of power: The four-cylinder turbo gasoline with 2.0-liter TSI engine goes up to a very strong 245 hp at 370 Nm and makes it from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. In the case of the Golf Mk 1 GTI, the time to 100 km/h is 9.0 seconds. When buying a Golf Mk 8 GTI, you can even choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-DSG dual-clutch transmission, which means it offers the right driving experience for every driver. All-wheel drive is still only available for the Golf Mk 8 R in the Golf Mk 8 series. The GTI has front-wheel drive instead. And a performance model is also missing, but VW has brought out the 300 hp GTI TCR version, the Golf Mk 8 GTI Clubsport. With the 8th generation, VW creates an improved sporty suspension for the GTI with front axle lock. By tuning the suspension, steering and dampers, the Mk 8 GTI has been optimized with the 7 GTI in mind, allowing for a more stable and dynamic driver. VW thus gives the sporty compact car safer driving, more power and more agile handling in curves. As a result, the Golf Mk 8 GTI offers intense driving pleasure over highway and country roads. In addition, the Golf 8 GTI is now equipped with a driving dynamics manager that uses the XDS electronic differential lock to brake individual wheels in a targeted manner. In terms of appearance, it remains true to its predecessor. Like the base model, the GTI 8 remains the same size as the GTI 7, although its slightly flatter roof and streamlined exterior panels make it look wider. Overall, the Golf Mk 8 GTI is just under 4.30 meters long, 1.80 meters wide and 1.40 meters high and weighs in at 1.4 tons. However, the compact sports car brings a somewhat "aggressive and modern" design than its predecessor. Among other things, it has been given honeycomb-shaped air intakes in the apron. Here, the five LED rectangles make up the fog lights, which are intended to visually resemble a checkered flag. In the interior, the Golf Mk 8 GTI impresses with the GTI-typical sports seats with a check pattern and the red accents in the cockpit. A striking feature of the eighth-generation GTI is that it has hardly any buttons and is operated almost exclusively via touchscreen. It is also equipped with the Group's modern infotainment system and offers digital instruments for live viewing of parameters. An extra feature of the compact car is that the tachometer can be displayed in the center according to personal settings - thanks to eigestive and special GTI design.
