Compact Octavia - the second world car

As one of the most important volume models, the Czech VW subsidiary Škoda creates a second-world car next to the VW Golf. In 1996, the first model based on VW's Golf IV appeared. Starting from the third generation, the compact car got the basis of the Modular Transverse Toolkit (MQB) by the VW Group. As a compact class, the Octavia is available on the market as an estate or a sedan. Around two-thirds of all Octavia models sold are station wagon versions, partly because the station wagon is particularly interesting as a family car and for commuters. In the 4th generation, Škoda is equipping Octavia with digital features such as a digital cockpit, head-up display and smartphone connectivity. Another first is that the Octavia iV is available for the first time as a plug-in hybrid. Here, a 1.4 TSI petrol engine provides a powerful 156 hp and, together with a 75 kW electric motor, comes to a system output of 204 hp. Octavia's various model series features everything from 1.0-liter to 2.0 TSI engines. In its fastest diesel variant, the Octavia RS 4x4, the compact car has 200 hp with 400 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The various models of the Octavia are equipped with all-wheel or front-wheel drive, and in many versions there is a choice between automatic and manual transmission.
